The Sd.Kfz. 231 (6-Rad) (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 231, “Special Motor Vehicle 231”) was a six-wheeled heavy armored reconnaissance car developed by Germany in the early 1930s. Although its front-line service was relatively short, it served as an important technological pioneer that paved the way for the more successful eight-wheeled armored cars that followed.
